Downes, Paul E., 70, of North Smithfield passed unexpectedly in Weymouth, MA Monday, June 24, 2024, while working. Born in Providence he was a son of the late George W. Downes, Sr. and Mary (Verdeccia) Downes. He was the husband of Christine F. (Chin) Downes and had lived in North Smithfield. Mr. Downes was a member of Teamsters Local 251 and worked for Mondelez International (The Nabisco Company) for many years. Besides his wife he leaves; a daughter Kristan (Jarrid) Pomfret of Woonsocket, and a son Brandon Downes also of Woonsocket, 2 brothers; George W. Downes, Jr. of Warwick and Dennis Downes of North Smithfield, 2 sisters; Carlotta Downes of Florida and Georgia Saunders of Pawtucket, and 2 granddaughters Aubrie Pomfret and Sophie Downes. His life will be celebrated with calling hours Tuesday, July 2, 2024, FROM 9:00AM TO 10:45AM IN THE Stapleton Family Funeral Home, 684 Park Avenue, Cranston with a service to follow at 11:00am. Burial will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, 100 Harrison Avenue, Warwick, RI.
