Joly, Barbara B., 74, of North Providence, passed peacefully Friday, April 8, 2022, at home. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Edgar and Edna (Shadden) Burgess she was a CCRI graduate and was an RN for 27 years. She was a member of our armed forces for 18 years before leaving the service and taking a job at Hopkins Manor and the Gleason Agency. She retired in 2017. She leaves a daughter, Kimberly A. (Joly) Sow of Providence, a brother John Burgess of Chicago, IL, three sisters; Bertha Golden of San Antonio, TX, Dorothy Harvey of Providence, and Jean Burgess of North Providence. Her pride and joy, two grandsons Alioune and Babacar Sow. She was sister of the late Edgar Burgess, Jr. Her life will be celebrated with calling hours Wednesday, April 13, 2022, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the Stapleton Family Funeral Home, 684 Park Avenue, Cranston with a funeral service to follow at 7:00pm.
