Edward R. McKenna, affectionately known as “Eddie” 73, of Andrews Avenue, West Warwick died unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Kent County Hospital, Warwick. He lived in West Warwick, RI for 16 years, formerly of Cranston and Providence, RI.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island a son of the late Francis J. and Lillian R. (Tierney) McKenna. He attended Hope High School in Providence and was a graduate of Community College of Rhode Island. He received his associate’s degree in Social Services.
Mr. McKenna enlisted in the US Army serving his country honorably during the Vietnam Conflict. Eddie worked as a Mail Handler for the United States Postal Service for 25 years before retiring in 2010.
He was an avid Boston sports fan, who enjoyed spending time with his Buddies and a glass of beer in hand while watching the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots games. Eddie also had a special talent of storytelling. He had a way of capturing the imagination while sharing his appreciation and unique take on the world. He will certainly be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by a brother, Robert “Bobby” McKenna of Cranston, RI, numerous cousins and friends. He was the brother of the late Francis “Frankie” McKenna.
A Memorial Service Celebrating his Life will be held on Friday December 6, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Stapleton Family Funeral Home, 684 Park Avenue, Cranston, RI. Military honors will follow.
